Graduation, Recognition and Moving Up, March 31, 2011
March 31, 2011 – Graduation, Moving Up and Recognition this year showed the HSG children’s story expressed in song. Both upbeat and sentimental renditions filled the Cine Adarna (UP Film Center) as the pupils presented this year’s theme “Aim High HSG!” – a daring vision to link up to the bigger world as a strong school community. The Preparatory and Grade 6 classes took the centerstage, both finally moving up into a new phase of their student lives. The ceremonies culminated with the kick-off of HSG’s ten year celebration, signalling the start of a new decade of yet providing more quality educational services for children and their families.
Family Day, March 5, 2011
March 5, 2011 - Even the drizzle couldn’t stop the HSG Community from braving the vast open fields of the Amoranto Stadium, the venue of the 2011 Family Day dubbed “Take Flight: Stay Fit 4 Life!”. A one-hour non-stop dance aerobics led by Team Vibe's Jog Nebres jumpstarted an array of athletic activities that include belly dancing (courtesy of Mommy Jill Ngo-Crisologo), fun games and relays.
First Holy Communion, February 19, 2011

HSG's Catholic students had their first Holy Communion last February 19, 2011 at the Los Desposorios Chapel, Panay Avenue Quezon City. Under the school's Catechism program (an option for our Roman Catholic students), the students were prepared for this important Christian life milestone through Catechism classes that started as early as July 2010, leading to its culmination this school year's end. This year, 15 students participated in the solemn activity.
Lakbay Aral: Quezon City
Hall, February 18, 2011

Students in the elementary levels had their opportunity to meet Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte during HSG's Lakbay Aral to QC Hall last February 19, 2011. The students were accommodated by the City's Cultural Tourism and Affairs Office (CTAO) and were toured around the different offices. The students were also oriented on the functions and responsibilities of financial, business permits and tax offices, seeing for themselves actual transactions of taxpayers! The students were fortunate to visit the Carlos Albert Session Hall where the lovely Vice Mayor Belmonte personally introduced her responsibilities and gamely answered questions by the HSG students.
This special day also allowed the kids to experience the best of Quezon City's security force led by the Department of Public Order and Safety, whose yellow guards assisted them on the whole duration of the trip.

UN Week Celebration and Halloween Party, October 26-29, 2010

HSG students got to know more about the world, its people and contemporary problems it faces during the UN Week celebrations, wherein they engaged in discussions, singing activities and in an interactive art exhibit.
For each day, the students built on resolutions on how to help resolve problems in conflict, climate change and poverty, in their small way.
This week became an opportunity for each to be reminded that he/she can take part in various advocacies and envision a better world for their generation.
It was culminated by a room design contest and Halloween party where each classroom became a "halloween version" of an assigned continent!

Math and Science Fair (Grade School), September 24, 2010
HSG highlights Science and Mathematics through a simple but exciting fair featuring activities that combines and logic and creativity. The day started with a super amazing race in the primary levels of 1,2 and 3, touching on various topics in science. It was followed by a special math quiz bee for the intermediate levels of 4, 5 and 6. Questions were tough and challenging, but the students worked on each with much gusto. The day's highlight was a decorating of rooms by each grade level. In 4 hours, rooms were transformed into a farm, outer space, a jungle, a museum, gadgets room and a color-filled environment. The kids truly had fun going around the premises!

Ako, Bayani: August 27, 2010
We travel back Philippine history for "Ako, Bayani", a special musical presentation by the HSG Community for the Buwan ng Wika. The students, portraying different times in Philippine history, spread the message that heroism lies in one's own empowerment as a citizen of the world. Compared to the wars and battles that happened in history, it is now the issue of climate change which is the war to face, and cannot be led by one leader alone. Instead, it needs the combined efforts of each person doing an act of heroism, in his/her own small way, to sustain living in this world.

Iron Chef Showdown II, August 6, 2010

HSG's very own version of Iron Chef made its comeback with parents and students from Nursery to Grade 6 showing teamwork and passion in creating the most tasteful dishes. It resulted in a day of healthy competition, fun and high spirits, as each team cooked, presented their dishes creatively and cheered -bringing it to a wonderful end of food sharing. The Grade 5 class was recognized as this year's grand winner, alongside getting the teamwork award. Still, the high energy and maximum participation of the school community gained a winner in each student, parent, staff and faculty who united to make the showdown happen. Congratulations to HSG families for a job well done!
Environment Awareness Day, June 25, 2010

The first month of school ended with a fun way to learn about environment protection. HSG students got the opportunity to paint one of the school's walls with dolphins! dolphins! dolphins! This is in part of a save-the-dolphins campaign headed by leading artist environmentalists (A.G. Sano, and Tomas Leonor (of the Step Juan Project). Headway School's 120 painted dolphins is now one of the 23,000 to be drawn in different walls in the entire Philippines that depicts dolphins swimming, swimming, swimming! It aims to raise awareness that these mammals should be protected to prevent their extinction. Aside from that, the kids enjoyed the games about waste segregation.
Socialization Day, June 18 2010

HSG students shared a morning of fun and laughter through the triad of activities they engaged in as part of their Fridays Out of the Box Series. They learned about music through a game facilitated by Teacher Crystal. Teacher Manolo made a fun painting activity where they painted on large paper. Coach Glenn helped the kids improve on their throwing skills during a relay game. Indeed, it was a great and fun way for teachers and their students, and between classmates, to work on activities together and know each other better in the process!
