Science & Math beyond the classroom

When we think of Science and Math, we think of it as limited to the four walls of the classroom and maybe the laboratory. Rarely, do we think of Science and Math as truly practical knowledge. 

During the Science and Math Week, HSG students get to experience the practicalities of math through their Market week. They spent time preparing their goods for sale, marking up the prices, giving change for payment and computing the days earning. Through a simple activity our students get to apply their math knowledge in a fun activity, even celebrating their first business success with some Pizza. A nice end to a job well done.

For Science, our students their knowledge in science through an exhibit and through a fun Minute to Win-it (with a science twist) game.  To further enrich their appreciation for Science the students spent time watching a video about outer space.

While Math and Science is often seen as difficult and only for the few,  our HSG students were able to see the wonder of these subjects as something real and necessary in our daily lives.
