BATCH 2007, MARK ABUT SHARES ABOUT BECOMING A BETTER PERSON
"Words are not enough to express my gratitude to Headway School for Giftedness. This school made me a better person. It made me a better person because it made me stronger physically, socially and mentally. This school really improved and gave me the greatest knowledge, I can say, in my life.
I am also really thankful that I entered this school because this is where I found my true friends. For every challenge in my life that I face, whether in my studies or in my social life, they were always there for me. There have never been any awkward moments among us. I have never had handsome and beautiful set of teachers and staff in my entire life. It is only in my elementary school. Teachers here are outstanding, very outstanding!
I think that if Headway wasn’t my alma matter in elementary, I wouldn’t be a God-fearing individual, a positive thinker and an intelligent student. I am very thankful that I graduated as valedictorian of this school in my batch. Headway became a very big part of my life. It is and will always be in my mind and in my heart as long as I am living.

BATCH 2009, DANIELLE UY TALKS ABOUT OVERCOMING HER FEARS
Since preschool, I was a student in Headway School for Giftedness. I was loyal to the school. I gained friends, classmates, schoolmates and teachers alike. When we had dance presentations, I, a girl with two left feet, was a part of it. But mostly I remixed our songs. I tried to stay on top of our class, experienced being a class officer of many kinds, and joined as much Enrichment classes as I could.
As a kid, I was playful and talkative. I always wanted to express myself. In preschool, it came to a point that I was disturbing others. Then I realized how to be considerate of others. Headway thought me that. They disciplined me and I learned well.
I would never forget the Enrichment Classes I took, but the ones that topped my list were Creative Writing and Music. In these classes I learned how to express myself in the proper way and I discovered my love for these kinds of art. In fact, these classes also helped me conquer my stage fright through all the performances. I could say that these classes really helped me improve my way of thinking. I became more creative. But not only the lectures were memorable to me, also the teachers. The teachers inspired me to take more risks, develop my talents and step out of my comfort zone.
Well, besides that, of course I had regular classes. One subject I hated the most - math. I found them difficult and I just hated the fact that I needed to count every math class. And when one of my teachers told us that we need math in our everyday living, I was petrified! As they say, math makes my nose bleed. But now that I am a high school student and math is really important in our level, I tell you, all those sweat and blood I gave for our math exams and quizzes paid off. I love our math subject and even if it is still not my favorite subject, I could honestly say that I understand most of the lessons and I am active in class. One thing I tell you, if you do not understand why you need to go through these challenges (in my case, a math exam), just be patient, give it your all and enjoy it. You'd never know when you will need these learnings in life.
Anyway, aside from math, there was Filipino, Civics, Science, English, MAPE, HELE, and all those other subjects. I'm not sure if you consider these weird, but I loved going to school. I really did. Maybe that was one reason that the seven years of my Headway life went by so fast. I enjoyed studying, I enjoyed learning. Frankly for me, I think that that's the point of school - to enjoy and learn. And the thrill of getting high scores? Amazing. Grades were only a prize for me, but the experience I took is what really matters. Because of HSG, I understood the meaning of school. It's not just the grades, not just the friends, it's the journey. We shouldn't be crazy about the thought of graduating, we should just live every second of our grade school life, because I tell you, it isn't forever.
Headway thought me to be a better person. I was once a shy and passive person but now, I am active and inquisitive. Before, I was a self-centered student where grades were the only things that mattered but today, I am a caring youth, aware of what is happening in my surroundings. I am now a second year student of SHSQC, the oldest daughter in our family, a devoted server in our church, an "ate" to one of the kids of Manila Boys Town, a volunteer in World Vision and a Filipino youth. The place where I grew as a student, my second home, with my second family, it affected me greatly. And whatever I achieve in life, I will always remember that I was once a part of HSG.
