the hsg online home-based program

With the current COVID-19 pandemic leading to the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Luzon, Headway School for Giftedness continues to be innovative in adapting to various social, psychological, and environmental circumstances. We believe that no crisis should stop children from learning and from developing holistically.
Hence, HSG is re-launching its Online Home-based Program enhanced with new technologies, research, and innovation in e-learning and systems. This program was implemented at Headway School for Giftedness in 2009, spearheaded by Mr. Joel C. Yuvienco, blended learning designer/trainer and knowledge management/ICT consultant to accommodate pupils’ 21st century learning needs.
The Online Home-based Program
The HSG Online Home-based Program is an alternative to HSG’s face-to-face classroom programming in response to the current global health situation. Our Online Home-based Program also employs an individualized and differentiated approach in student instruction. The K-12 syllabus is used, modified and enhanced by HSG’s tailor-fit programming approach. It incorporates teacher and parent collaboration in the implementation of the school’s program at home where technology is a tool in the facilitation of knowledge. The child remains at the center of school instruction.
HSG’s Online Home-based Program is a form of distance learning approach integrating methodologies in e-learning to facilitate transference of knowledge and skills with the help of mentors as well as homeschooling to support and reinforce student learning with the help of parents. Socialization is also fostered in a virtual environment. Technology serves a medium to deliver instruction and to allow socialization through the use of tools such as Google Classroom, Google Hangouts, and other learning management systems.
This learning model will require strong parent and school collaboration in order to optimize learning among children. In this program, students and parents will have access to school instruction through Google Classroom.
Students will have access to the following:
- Online links where interactive academic activity can be done by students at their own time (can be academic videos, online academic games, etc)
Note: Students/parents must have Google email account, laptop or desktop computer or tablet, and stable internet connection.
There will be periods in a day where students will download lesson materials, video conferencing for socialization, chat rooms for learning support, and a time for students to do off-screen experiential activities at home, monitored by parents, caregiver, or any adult at home to enrich learning. There will also be times when teachers may need to set an online or phone appointment with the child for more individualized feed backing.
In our pursuit of providing a fruitful learning experience for students, we hope to be able to build stronger partnership with parents which may also forge the bond between parents and children.
Hence, we are inviting you to enroll in our Online Home-based Program. Here is the process:
