Graduation-Moving Up / Adaptation of "Annie" (2014 Film and Musical)

Picture
On the occasion of its Moving Up-Graduation ceremony last March 28, 2015, Headway School for Giftedness featured an adaptation of the musical and film “Annie”, a Broadway musical launched in 1977 based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie.

Annie’s well-known songs include “Tomorrow,” “It’s a hard Knock Life,” “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile,” and “Opportunity”.

The production comprised of an ensemble acting of selected students performing throughout the program with song/dance performances from each grade level following the chronology of songs in the musical.

The one and a half hour event proved to be a thrilling experience for the HSG pupils, all of whom performed together with their classmates. They were able to maximize their potentials in singing, dancing and acting under the mentorship of professional writers, actors and singers from HSG, who include – Teacher Icy Salem (as scriptwriter), Acting Coach Jussy Pena (who also played as “Cinderella” in the Resorts World Production), Professional Dancer and Philippines All-Stars member Bea Lesaca (as choreographer) and Musician Teachers Albert Magcalas and Crystal Rodis-Concepcion (as voice coaches).

Indeed, it was a memorable musical experience for the school community!

A special outreach program was held at the Barangay Maybunga Covered Courts where the HSG families shared blessings of school supplies, grocery packages and food to the families from different barangays of Pasig City. The pupils also prepared special numbers with messages of hope to the children.

In collaboration with ILAW Foundation who is the co-organizer of the event, they personally brought the remaining packages to Northern Samar whose recipients were victims of the two typhoons that hit the province in 2013 and 2014.

A BIG THANK YOU AND CONGRATULATIONS goes out to our Pupils, Parents, Guardians, Relatives and Friends who contributed their time, resources and effort to share their blessings!
