A Constellation: Plotting the Stars for the Future Generation

"A Constellation: Plotting the Stars for the Future Generation" was Headway School for Giftedness' culmination for SY 2012-2013, capping a fruitful school year of community building and sharing.
This year’s moving up and Graduation ceremonies, held at the University of the Philippines Film Center on March 26, 2013, gave tribute to the different values that has helped formed the vision and character of HSG today. The show's message encourages parents, educators and guardians to help their children as they reach for the stars - towards their dreams and aspirations - by teaching them the necessary life values that they will use as tools in times of adversity, struggle, success and glory.

This was likened to an astronomer, who "plots the stars, showing clear-cut visions carved in the sky amidst the randomness of space". If constellations have been humankind's guides to the sky, the core values are then the children's guide to their dreams.
Each class prepared a creative presentation to transmit the values of understanding, discipline, respect, fairness, love, helping, sharing, giving and kindness. The HSG Dance Opportunity Class and Rhythms Musical Choir also performed in the ceremony. photos courtesy of Mrs Christina Male) |
Combo-Recreational Family Camp, March 2, 2013

The first ever combo style activity of Headway School for Giftedness took place last March 2, 2013 at the lush Phillip's Sanctuary in Antipolo, Rizal. Dubbed the "HSG Combo-Recreational Family Camp", it combined the school's Yearender field trip, Family Day/Foundation Day and Leadership workshop.
The Camp provided a comprehensive Outdoor Education for the students, taking the classroom experience outside of the typical four walls to give a unique and refreshing kind of learning. It also built on environmental awareness through direct learning and problem solving at the outdoors.

EDU 2.0 Online Enrichment Program, September 19-21, 2012

The cyberworld unites people. In HSG, it brings students closer to their mentors, classmates, parents and other members of the community. Thus, the EDU 2.0 online enrichment program, first launched in 2009, re-emerges this school year to serve as its own social and education network!
Students initially signed up at EDU’s online site during the recent Math and Science Fair held last September 19-21. Since then, they have started exploring the network, adding friends and posting news feeds. Teachers, on the other hand, plan to use their blogs to post learning materials for enrichment purposes.
In a few months, parents may also sign up. The vision is to build an online community where members of HSG, whether teachers, parents or students, share their learning via the EDU 2.0 platform. |

Urban Vegetable Planting and Vitamins Presentation Day, July 13, 2012

urban planting time!
As part of the country’s Nutrition Month kick-off, the HSG community dedicated a full day to knowing more about healthy living in the form of vegetable gardening and discussing vitamins and minerals.
Aligning with the theme, “Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw itong ihain”, each class was assigned a particular vitamin where they creatively presented its definition and its form of help to the body. On the same day, the students were given an opportunity to have their own vegetable plant (pechay, mustasa, talong or kamatis) by taking home seedlings provided by QC Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte’s Urban Farming Campaign. Each pupil got a chance to scoop and transfer the seedling to their own soil-filled cups!
